Houthis develop modern drones: report

LONDON: Houthis of Yemen have developed drones that can be difficult to spot on radar.
According to a report by a British organization that identifies weapons and ammunition used in wars around the world, evidence shows that the Houthis have acquired new technology regarding drones. Their modern technology can make drones more difficult to detect and can fly farther.
Yemen’s Houthis have given Israel four days to lift the blockade of Gaza.
The report says that if the United States or Israel start a war again, the Houthis may surprise them after acquiring new technology.
The British agency released its report after examining the weapons used by the Houthis. Last week, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi threatened to resume naval operations against Israel if it did not allow aid into Gaza within four days.
It may be noted that the Houthis carried out several attacks on Israel as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians during the Gaza war.
Since November 2023, the group has carried out more than 100 attacks in the Red Sea, targeting commercial and military vessels and launching missiles and drones towards Israel. The Houthis had announced they would limit their attacks if the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was implemented.
