Minor girl dies in house fire

CHITRAL: A minor girl died in a fire that gutted her house in Oweer Pakhturi village of Upper Chitral, local people told ChitralToday.

They said that the fire was caused by an electric short-circuit. The local residents, including Nadim, said that the incident occurred in a remote area where fire tenders could not reach.

However, nearby residents rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze, but the fire had already caused extensive damage and the death of the minor girl.

According to witnesses, the house consisted of six rooms with significant woodwork due to which the flames quickly engulfed the structure.

The local people appealed to the district administration for providing timely assistance to the house owner, Asad Ullah, in rebuilding his house and providing temporary shelter for his displaced family.

However, local authorities are yet to visit the area and announce any relief package for the affected family.
