20 coalmine workers shot dead in Balochistan
QUETTA: Armed persons shot dead 20 coalmine workers in the Dukki district of Balochistan, local police said on Friday morning.
They said seven laborers were also injured in the attack. The dead bodies and the injured were removed from the site and shifted to hospital.
Local authorities said that the unknown armed people carried out the attack on the coalmine owned by Haji Khair Ullah, the district council chairman of Dukki.
The attackers used hand grenades and shot dead 20 workers and injured seven others. The incident occured at Thursday-Friday night.
The police said that the victims belonged to different areas of Balochistan and Afghanistan.
The owner of the coalmine said that the attackers also burnt down at least 10 machines at the site.
It may be mentioned that laborers from Punjab have been targetted by unknown people in Balochistan in the recent years. The latest incident shows that the attackers have targeted workers from Balochistan.
