Police martyrs paid tribute on national day
CHITRAL: Martyrs of Chitral police were paid tribute at a ceremony held here on Sunday in connection with the Police Martyrs Day.
August 4th is observed as ‘Police Martyrs Day’ to pay tributes to the martyrs and assure their families that the blood of their loved ones will not go in vain.
A spokesman for the Lower Chitral police said the ceremony held at the Govt College of Management Sciences was chaired by Commandant Chitral Scouts Bilal Javed. Deputy Commissioner Mohsin Hayat and District Police Officer Iftikhar Shah along with family members of the martyrs were present.
Speakers on the occasion said that the sacrifice of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in war on terror was unprecedented. A large number of police officers and Jawans laid their lives while fighting the scourge of terrorism in the province. These martyrs also included brave sons of Chitral.
Security forces and police personnel who have been fighting terrorists in the country are an asset of the nation and the nation is proud of them, they said.
The DPO said the police were proud of the great sacrifices of its martyrs and will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families and would take all possible steps for their well-being.
At the end of the ceremony, gifts were distributed among the family members of the police martyrs. The participants also offered Fateha for the martyrs and prayed for peace and stability in the country.
