Restrictions imposed on bike riders

CHITRAL: After two youngsters lost their lives in a bike crash at Jutilasht area on June 2, the district administration of Lower Chitral imposed Section 144 to check underage driving and riding motorcycles without helmet.

An order issued by the deputy commissioner office stated that riding motorcycles without wearing a helmet incraases the risk of severe head injuries and fatalities in case of an accident.

Juveniles driving motorcycles are particularly vulnerable to accidents due to their lack of experience and awareness of traffic rules and regulations.

In order to regulate bike riding, the deputy commissioner Muhammad Imran Khan imposed Section 144 of CrPC 1898 to ban on the movement of motorcycles without its driver wearing a helmet and on juvenile driving of bikes in the district.

The order will remain in force for three months or under further notice and may be subject to review.
