BOONI: The Chitral Upper police have registered a case against two men and arrested one of them on the charge of causing the death by suicide of a married woman in Gaht village of Mulkhow last week.
The mother of three killed herself by jumping from a mountain near the village on Friday.
The police in a statement said that the mystery over the suicide of the woman had been resolved and a case registered against two men. One of them has been arrested and efforts are underway to trace the other, it added
It said that Shabana, wife of Muhammad Nawaz of Gaht, committed suicide by falling herself from the mountain on May 17.
On the direction of District Police Officer Muhammad Atiq Shah, a team headed by Subdivisional Police Officer Mulkhow Bahadar Khan and consisting of SHO Noor Shahideen and ASHO Sher Hussain probed the case.
From statements of eyewitnesses and a last text message sent to the woman by her husband it transpired that she had committed suicide after indecent accusations made against her by Jamil Ahmed and Maqsood Elahi of the same village.
The police registered a case under section 322/34 of Pakistan Penal Code against the two suspects and arrested one of them. Further investigation is underway.
