Six arrested in Chilas bus attack case
GILGIT: Six suspects were rounded up by law enforcement agencies in connection with the armed attack on a passenger bus in Chilas area of Gilgit-Baltsitan that left nine people dead and 21 injured on Saturday evening.
An FIR has been registered against unknown attackers under different sections of the PPC and the anti-terrorism act. The police in Diamer district today said they have arrested six suspects in the case and were interrogating them.
Meanwhile, hundreds of passengers travelling between Gilgit-Baltistan and other parts of the country were stranded in Bisham, Kohistan and other areas due to the closure of the Karakoram Highway.
In a statement, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said anti-state elements would not be allowed to sabotage peace of the region. He said the war against terrorism would continue till the elimination of terrorism in the country. He also expressed grief over martyrdom of innocent citizens in the incident and prayed for the patience of the bereaved families.
