BANG (YARKHOON): Residents of Yarkhoon valley of Upper Chitral have called upon the district administration and other authorities to make the Telenor mobile phone service in their area functional to enable them to remain connected with the outside world.
In a statement, the residents of Yarkhoon, the far-off area of Upper Chitral, said Telenor is the only mobile phone service provider in their area, but its service had always been poor.
To make the matter worse, the company has failed to repair its malfunctioning tower No 60 installed at Kand village of Upper Yarkhoon for over a month.
This has deprived the population of the remote villages of connectivity in this modern age of technology, they said.
They said the tower developed a faults early in August and after over one month no step has been taken to repair it and restore mobile phone service in the area.
The area people appealed to the deputy commissioner of Upper Chitral and higher authorities of Telenor to urgently repair the tower and restore service.
