President Alvi phones families of Chitrali martyrs

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday telephoned the family members of Lance Naik Sher Nawaz who embraced martyrdom while fighting gallantly against Taliban militants at Jinjiret Koh check post in Chitral on September 6.  

The president paid tributes to the martyred lance naik of Chitral Scouts for sacrificing his life for the country’s security and saluted him for his services to the country, patriotism and commitment to duty. 
Dr Alvi also conveyed gratitude on behalf of the entire nation to the family of the martyred Sher Nawaz. He also prayed to Allah almighty for elevation of ranks of the departed soul in Jannah and also for patience to the bereaved family.
The funeral prayer of the martyred soldier was offered at his native village Khuz (Qaziyadeh) on September 7 and he was laid to rest with full military honour.
Senior military officials and Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Muhammad Khalid Zaman attended the funeral payer and laid wreath on the grave of the martyr on behalf of President Dr Arif Alvi and Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir. 
The martyred lance naik left behind a widow, a son, two daughters, parents, five brothers and two sisters to mourn his death.  
He was the brother of Afzal Aman, Taj Muhammad Khan, Sher Nagin Khan and Asif Ali Khan of Qaziyandeh Khuz.
