CHITRAL: In the wake of the prevailing security situation following terrorist attacks on Chitral Scouts posts on Afghan border on Sept 6, security has been tightened across Lower Chitral.
On Friday, police were deployed even outside mosques who were frisking people coming to offer prayers. Moreover, security checking has been enhanced on all entry and exit points of Lower Chitral, especially at the Lowari tunnel.
A spokesman for the police said on the direction of District Police Officer (DPO) Ikram Ullah Khan, subdivisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) were personally visiting the police pickets to monitor the security arrangements.
However, Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Muhammad Ali Khan in a message said law and order situation in the area was normal and tourists can visit any destination in Chitral without fear.
The deputy commissioner added that life was normal in Chitral with all business centers, schools, universities and hospitals functioning as usual.
Terrorists attacked two posts of Chitral Scouts on Afghan border at Ostai in Bumburate valley and Jinjiret Koh early on September 6, killing four Jawans.
In reply, the security personnel on the border killed 12 intruding terrorists, according to ISPR.
