Broghil festival starts from September 1

CHITRAL: Broghil festival 2023 will commence from Sept 1 (tomorrow) in the grassy meadows of the valley known as the ‘land of yaks” adjoining the Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan.

DC Upper Chitral Khalid Zaman told Dawn that yak polo and yak race will be the major events of the festival while the cultural traits of the people residing in the extreme north of the country would also be showcased.

He said the three-day festival was aimed at mainstreaming the people of Broghil, who have remained marginalised till recently due to inaccessibility of the valley.

The contestants of the festival will only be from Broghil, which is divided into seven villages.–Dawn
