PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted status quo against re-interviews scheduled for Tuesday (Aug 21) on 16 posts of lecturers and stopped any adverse actions against petitioners on Monday.
Khalid Rehman Advocate argued before the bench, comprising of Justice Muhammad Ijaz Sabi and Justice Dr. Khursheed Iqbal Mehrun Nisa along, that the petitioners were appointed for Shaheed Benazir University, Chitral campus in 2010 after selection procedure on permanent basis.
Later, the campus became University of Chitral. He pleaded that the petitioners wee employees of Benazir University Sheringal and had nothing to do with Chitral’s varsity.
The petitioners filed a writ petition in favor of their benefit while High Court ordered their appointment on permanent basis but Chitral University had challenged the judgement before Supreme Court of Pakistan which deferred the issue to syndicate to decide who would regularize the applicants either Chitral’s varsity or Shaheed Benazir University Sheringal Upper Dir, the counsel added.
He said Shaheed Benazir University syndicate had regularized the petitioners while Chitra University did not accept them as regular employees and was going to reinterview them afresh.
The counsel further argued that Chitral University had requested for two months before Darul Qaza (PHC Mingora bench) while now harassing the applicants with different tactics.
He added that the varsity’s plea for becoming a party in the identical case had already turned down by competent court.
After hearing the arguments, the court stayed the process of re-interviewing and also issued the VC of Chitral University.
