Protest against NHA in Sor Laspur village

BOONI: A protest was held in a village in Laspur valley against the National Highway Authority (NHA) for encroaching into private land while constructing road in Sor Laspur village.

The road was being widened to enable the buses of NATCO to continue its service to Mastuj from Gilgit. 

However, the local people said that instead of widening the old road at Molanshal the NHA encroached into their grazing area.

The protesters blocked the new road by putting stones and boulders on it. The construction work was suspended by the district administration on the complaints of the locals two days ago. 

The locals today gathered at the site and registered their protest. They dispersed after an official from the district administration of Upper Chitral assured them that the matter would be resolved.
