Police squad formed to deal with rioters
CHITRAL: The Lower Chitral police have formed an anti-riot squad to deal with any security situation involving unruly gatherings or mobs.
The anti-riot squad, the police said, is part of efforts to ensure law and order and protect the life and property of the citizens in the district.
The anti-riot squad personnel have been trained and ate equipped with tear gas and shelling gas. The squad personnel exhibited their prowess in the presence of DSP Headquarters Ahmed Essa, a spokesman said.
About five years ago, the police had formed an Anti-Riot Force to remain at a standby to meet any law and order situation besides reaching out to the public at times of emergencies such as floods etc.
In March this year, Lower Chitral police also launched Ababil Police Squad to strengthen police action against anti-social elements and all those involved in street crimes.
The police had stated that the special force will play a leading role in maintaining peace throughout the district by taking effective and timely actions against elements involved in street crime.
