Canadian hunter kills markhor in Chitral
CHITRAL: A Canadian national, Thomas Renato Martini, hunted a Kashmir markhor at Tooshi-Shasha community-managed game reserve on February 6, 2023, the wildlife division Chitral stated in a statement.
It said the size of the left horn of the markhor was 43 inches and right horn 43-1/2 inches. The tip-to-tip distance was 26 inches and diameter of left and right horns was 12 inches while basal distance between two horns was 1-1/2 inches.
The shot was fired at 03:30pm. The distance of the shot was 350 yards. The age of the markhor was approximately 11 years. The community participation in conservation initiated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has been a success story in Chitral, it added.
We want to know about the money which has been attributed to the community welfare. Trophy has been there for quite some time and community welfare is no where around.
.. then give him the title of ‘fakhr e Chitral’ for doing such a great thing! 🙁
