Protest sit-in against power crisis continues

TORKHOW: People of Istaru, Verkhop, Nishku, Madak and Terich continued their protest sit-in on the second consecutive day on Thursday against unavailability of electricity in their areas. 

A participant of the protest told ChitralToday that the locals were sitting under the open sky in the biting cold for acceptance of their genuine demand but the callous government had failed to even send an official to listen to their grievance.

He said the protesters have given a three-day’s deadline to the government to resolve the power crisis in the villages but two days have already passed with the authorities concerned not even ready to meet the sit-in participants. 

He said at the end of the deadline on Friday, people of the whole area would proceed to Booni to launch a public protest there.
