PESHAWAR: A two-day cultural festival concluded in Peshawar on Sunday featuring different games such as football, tug of war and quiz competitions, naat competition and Chitrali musical show.
Stalls of Chitrali cuisine and handcraft were also arranged. The festival was sponsored by Qashqar Development Authority, KP Youth Affairs and Terichmir Backpackers Club.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Shafiullah Khan was chief guest at the opening ceremony. Families, students and people from different walks of life visited the stalls and showed their interest in the items.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner Peshawar lauded the organizers for holding the event. He said Chitralis are a civilized and peace-loving nation. Such an event will reflect the culture of Chitral and should be held in future as well, he added.
Other speakers highlighted different aspects of Chitrali culture, including its ethnic diversity, craftsmanship, art and music, dresses and cuisine. They expressed the hope that the festival will help introduce Chitral rich culture.
An organizer of the event, Umair Khalil, while taking to ChitralToday said our message to people was to understand each other better so this type of event was necessary for development of a progressive society.
At the end of the event, people from different walks of life were given awards in recognition of their services and prizes were also distributed among winners of different games and competitions.
