CHITRAL: Areas around Lowari tunnel received at least three inch of snowfall by Thursday evening without the road between Chitral and down districts being blocked, according to the office of the deputy commissioner Lower Chitral.
The DC office however asked commuters to avoid unnecessary travel, adding drivers of public transport vehicles should adopt safety measures such as using snow chain and avoiding travelling at night.
Meanwhile, there were also reports of rain and snowfall in different parts of Lower and Upper Chitral with mountains receiving snowfall.
A spokesman for the meteorological department in Islamabad stated that a shallow trough of westerly wave was affecting upper parts of the country. He said more rain/snow over the mountains was expected in Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining areas.
