CHITRAL: The Lower Chitral police on Wednesday said it foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of charas to Chitral from outside of the district and arrested one suspect.
In a statement, the police said that on the instructions of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Division Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Nasir Mehmood to achieve the objective of narcotics eradication campaign launched by IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari, the police have tightened the noose around suspects.
A team of the police stopped a flying coach (FDV-3246) coming to Chitral at Ashiret and during checking recovered 7,350 grams of charas from it. The police also arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as Usman Hussain, a resident of Kalkatak, Lower Chitral.
Further investigation into the case has been launched, said the polie.
