Chitral University unable to pay salaries

CHITRAL: The University of Chitral (UoC) is in financial straits and has expressed its inability to even pay salaries to its employees.

According to a notification issued by the university’s registrar office on July 29, 2022, heads of all teaching and administrative departments were intimated to inform their employees that the management would not be able to pay them salaries for July.

It said the University of Chitral had neither been included in the incurring funding stream of the HEC despite approval of a budget by the senate for the fiscal year 2021-22 nor the provincial government had released Rs200 million on account of grant-in-aid approved by the chief minister through a summary moved by the high education department in March 2021 which was subsequently approved by the cabinet in June 2022.

“In view of the above, you are required to inform your subordinate staff that the University is unable to pay salaries for the month of July as well,” it added.
