BOONI: Government and health officials on Thursday formally launched an anti-polio drive by administering drops to children at the headquarters hospital Booni.
The campaign will start on May 23 and continue till May 27 during which children under the age of five years will be administered polio drops.
Chitral remains free from polio for over 30 years but Pakistan and Afghanistan are still trying to attain the status of polio-free countries.
Three cases have so far have been reported in the erstwhile tribal areas of Pakistan this year. The first case emerged after a gap of 15 months in North Waziristan.
