Awareness must for conservation of wildlife, says official

CHITRAL: The Chitral Wildlife Division observed the World Wildlife Day with the theme of “Recovering key wildlife species for ecosystem restoration” at Boliough.

Altaf Ali Shah, Divisional Forest Officer, at a function highlighted the role of wildlife species for sustainability of life for future generations. He stated that some keystone species were indicator of healthy ecosystem.

He stressed the need for awareness in public regarding conservation of wildlife species.

Community elders speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the wildlife department and assured it of their cooperation in conservation initiatives.

World Wildlife Day is celebrated the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people.

At the same time, the day reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime and human-induced reduction of species, which have wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts.
