State-era godown left to crumble in Upper Chitral

DIZG (UPPER CHITRAL): The government’s callous attitude towards public issues in remote areas of Chitral needs no elaboration but its apathy towards its own properties is disappointing.

The state-era godown located in Dizg in Yarkhun valley catered to the villages of Dizg, Istach, Khruzg and Mahting. Later, the food department used it as a sale point to provide wheat to the area people.

However, for the last many years, the roof of the godown has caved in and it is left “ownerless” and no government agency bothers to steps for its repair and use it for public good.

Amin Nasir Raza, a resident of Dizg, told ChitralToday that the building was about 90 years old and was built by local people on self-help basis to set up the godown. But for the last many years the building has been left un-utilized and despite repeated demands the food department is not ready to repair it.

He appealed to the district administration of Upper Chitral to take notice of the matter and order renovation of the godown without further delay.
