Fresh spell of snowfall starts across Chitral

CHITRAL: While heavy rains and snowfall are expected in upper parts of the country, from Saturday to Monday, different areas in Lower and Upper Chitral received intermittent rain and snowfall on Friday evening.

About five inch snow had fallen in Lowari where the road was closed for a few hours and then reopened after removal of the snow.  In Upper Chitral, Terich road was closed after the fresh snowfall.

The Met Office said a westerly weather system was present over western parts of the country and likely to grip most upper and central parts on Saturday/Sunday.

Rain/snow wind-thunderstorm (with few heavy falls/hailstorm) is expected in Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. It asked the concerned authorities to remain alert and take precautionary measures on Saturday and Sunday.

For tourists advisory, the department said rain with snowfall is expected in Chitral, Hunza, Dir, Murree, Nathiagali, Naran, Kaghan, Neelum valley, Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad. Heavy snowfall may cause road closures in tourist places. Tourists are advised to remain alert.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
