BOONI: Upper Chitral’s third deputy commissioner, Mr Manzoor Ahmed Afridi, took charge of his office on Wednesday, an official told ChitralToday.
Mr Afridi is a grade 18 officer of the Provincial Management Service (PMS) and was earlier working as deputy secretary in the KP transport department.
He has replaced Mr Muhammad Ali Khan who was transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Department by the KP government a few days ago.
Mr Afridi is the third deputy commissioner of Upper Chitral after the establishment of the new district in 2018.
Mr Shah Saud was appointed as the first DC of the new district in April 2019 who remained on the post till his transfer in July 2021.
The second DC, Mr Muhammad Ali, remained on the post for only six months. His sudden transfer was widely resented by the locals as he remained instrumental in initiating different schemes in resolving public issues.
DC Lower Chitral
Newly-appointed deputy commissioner of Lower Chitral Muhammad Anwarul Haq also took charge in place of Hassan Abid on Wednesday.
Upon arrival at the DC office, the officers and staff welcomed the new deputy commissioner and a contingent of Chitral Levies presented him guard of honour.
The DC told the officers that they should remain accessible to the public and resolve their issues on a priority basis.
