ISLAMABAD: Leader of ex-military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Shahzada Khalid Pervez on Monday joined the PPP at a meeting with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Islamabad.
Party sources told ChitralToday that Khalid Pervez met the PPP chairperson along with PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Najmuddin Khan at Zardari House in Islamabad.
Mr Pervez told Mr Bilawal that people of Chitral were the lovers of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and your (Bilawal’s) narrative is the voice of the masses.
The PPP chairperson on the occasion welcomed Khalid Pervez into his party.
In the last local government elections, Khalid Pervez remained a general councillor and was a contender for the slot of the district nazim. However, he was nominated along with four others in a timber case and arrested by NAB on August 2015. Later, he was acquitted by an accountability court in Peshawar.
Sources said Khalid Pervez is now an aspirant for the tehsil Drosh nazim slot and likely to get the PPP ticket in the forthcoming local bodies’ elections.
Khalid Pervez is son of former MNA and minister of state Shahzada Mohouddin. His brother Shahzada Iftikharuddin was elected to the National Assembly on APML ticket in 2013 but lost the elections in 2018 on the ticket of PML-N.
