Food dept told to ensure availability of wheat in remote areas

BOONI:  The district food controller of Upper Chitral has been directed to ensure supply and availability of quality wheat in remote areas such as Yarkhun, Laspur, Rech, Terich, Khot and Oveer.

According to a statement, additional deputy commissioner Irfan Uddin visited the district food office on the direction of deputy commissioner Muhammad Ali and got a briefing on the current stock of wheat in the district.

The district administration said supply of quality wheat to the sale points of the district food department should be ensured in order to avoid any shortage in the winter season.

He was informed that at present sufficient stock was available in the main godowns and sale points set up in different areas of the remote valleys.

The official was told that there were 1,933 bags of wheat in Booni, 1,472 in Kuragh, 2,117 in Mastuj, 2,040 in Reshun, 3,840 in Yarkhun,  3,050 in Laspur, 1,326 in Broghil, 655 in Sonoghur, 2,202 in Terich, 750 in Gohkir, 2,210 in Khot, 1,800 in Torkhow, 2116 in Rech, 2,500 in Mulkhow and 1,810 bags in Oveer.

All assistant commissioners will visit the sale points/godowns in their jurisdiction to ensure availability of sufficient stock and quality of wheat.
