Canal breach leads to flooding, road closure

A breach in a canal led to flooding in Pavur village of Yarkhun on Thursday that damaged public property and blocked the road.

The canal supplies water from Pavur Gol to parts of Sholkoch village, local people told ChitralToday on phone.

They said after the breach in the main canal, the gushing water swept away two other canals leading to the flooding in Qazian Deh in the hilly area.

Traffic between upper and lower parts of Yarkhun has been blocked.

Due to absence of machinery, the locals were unable to remove the debris.

They urged the district administration to send staff and machinery to remove the debris and open the road.
