Appointment of outsiders in Upper Chitral murder of merit

Appointment of outsiders in Upper Chitral termed murder of merit

CHITRAL: The appointment of outsiders as drivers, Class-IV and computer operators in Upper Chitral bypassing the local educated youth is the travesty of justice and murder of merit, and would not be tolerated at any cost.

This was stated by Syed Mukhtar Ali Shah Advocate, who is the coordinator for International Human Rights Observer, in Upper Chitral.

He issued a statement in reference to the appointment of seven persons from different districts of KP on lower posts in the district attorney office of Upper Chitral.

These vacancies were: two computer operators, two junior clerks, one of driver, one watchman and one naib qasid. The vacant posts were filled by the director general law and human rights Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the list available with ChitralToday.

Four of the new appointees were from Peshawar and one each from Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera.

Advocate Mukhtar said this was an open injustice not only with the educated and unemployed youth of Upper Chitral but also a step-motherly step with the new and backward district.

He said the open violation of merit by the department supposed to protect and promote law and human rights was against the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and aimed at tarnishing the image of his government.

In another statement, District Bar Lower Chitral President Niaz A. Niazi also condemned the appointment of outsiders and said it was a travesty of justice and highly condemnable.

He wondered how there was not a single candidate for any of the posts in Upper Chitral which is one of the districts of KP with the highest literacy rate.

He also criticized the district leadership of the ruling PTI for failing to protect the rights of its party workers, and demanded a high-level inquiry into the scam.–Bashir Hussain Azad
