BOONI: Drivers of public and goods transport vehicles were fined for overloading on roads to different areas of Upper Chitral on Wednesday.
Shah Adnan, Assistant Commissioner Mastuj at Booni, along with district administration and police officials set up halting points on different roads and caught overloaded vehicles.
The drivers were told that if they violated the law in future their vehicles would be impounded.
The public transporters have already been issued strict directions to avoid overloading and night travels after repeated fatal accidents in upper parts of the district.
An overloaded land cruiser fell into the river while crossing a bridge in front of Unauch in upper Yarkhun, killing eight people on May 30, 2021.
