Boy drowns in River Chitral

Accident at Karak leaves two dead, three injured

DROSH: A boy drowned in River Chitral while swimming near Dondigal on Sunday noon.

Rescue 1122 Lower Chitral said a team of divers had reached the area and started searching for the dead body.

Local people told ChitralToday that Tashfeen, 12, son of Iqbaluddin and a resident of Kuru, drowned in the river while swimming at about 11:45 noon.

They said Rescue 1122 have started a search for the dead body but till filing of this report have not been able to recover it.

The locals said there was no presence of rescue divers in the area due to which many people drowned in the river and most of the bodies could not be recovered. 

The dead bodies of many people who fell into the river were swept to Afghanistan on many occasions, adding to the agonies of the bereaved families.

They called upon the government to permanently deploy divers of the rescue service in the area to save lives and recover bodies in case of drowning incidents.–Abbas Hussain
