Teacher suspended for beating student

CHITRAL: A primary school teacher in Shishi Koh valley was on Saturday suspended after a case was registered against him for beating a class 1 student.

“As reported by SDEO (male) Drosh, Mr Hamidul Hassan, PST, GMS Purgal, Shishi Koh, is hereby suspended due to giving corporal punishment to a student with immediate effect till further,” said an official order issued by the district education officer (male) Lower Chitral on Saturday. 

The DEO also formed a committee to probe the incident.

Sources told ChitralToday that the the Drosh police on June 3 registered an FIR against the teacher on the complaint of the child’s mother. 

The mother in the FIR stated that on Thursday her son, aged 6-7 year, came back from the school weeping with bruises on his waist and blood oozing from his left ear. 

The child told her mother that his teacher beat him up. The police registered an FIR against the teacher but the suspect obtained bail before arrest.
