Land purchased for Kalash, graveyards, dancing places

AYUN: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has purchased 20 kanals in Bumburate, Rumbur and Birir valleys to set up new graveyards and extend dancing places to help preserve the ancient culture of Kalash tribe.

The lands have been acquired as no space was left in the existing graveyards in these valleys and there was a need to expand the dancing places.

A spokesperson for the Department of Sports, Tourism and Archaeology, Latifur Rehman, said three kanlas have been purchased in Karakal and four kanals in Broon for graveyard, along with pieces of lands in other villages of the three valleys for extension of the dancing places.

“The government has purchased 20 kanals worth Rs270 million for the protection of this heritage,” he said.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
