NOWSHERA (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday formally inaugurated a multi-billion project to widen and reconstruct the Chitral-Shandur-Gilgit road.

The inauguration was held at a function mainly organized to lay foundation for the Jalozai Apartments for low-income groups in Nowshera.

The ceremony was informed that the construction of the 253 km long road would be completed in four phases. The maximum width of the road would be 7.3 metres and the project would cost about Rs16.755 billion.

The prime minister said the project would not only help in the development of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan but would also open up the scenic areas to national and international tourism.

About the housing project, Imran Khan said the government would provide Rs300,000 subsidy on each house while the buyer would pay easy mortgage installments to get the ownership rights.

He said with the government’s efforts, a long-delayed foreclosure law was settled that resulted in an agreement with banks on mortgage financing, which was the key factor in the materialization of the project.

First please complete the Lowari tunnel project which is lying in shambles, then think of this road. That is why they say “first learn to walk , then try running”.
