Terror suspect held, ammunition seized in Chitral

PESHAWAR: In a major operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other law enforcement agencies arrested an activist of a banned religious outfit in Chitral.

The CTD carried out the operation in Osiak village near Drosh along with the local police and arrested Aftab Ahmed, son of Muhammad Azam, of Afghanistan.

The CTD said Aftab, who was a resident of Peshawar, is a terrorist and was hiding in Chitral. He was linked to the proscribed Jaishe Muhammad, it added.

On information provided by the suspected terrorist, the CTD recovered explosive materials, 95 safety fuses, 49 metres dynamite from the area.

The CTD Malakand Division registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. Further investigation is underway and the suspect has been shifted to an unknown location.

  1. A terror suspect cannot come without some local connections. Did the police also arrested any local collaborators.

    The culprit should be tried properly to go through their aims and objectives.
