ANP warns govt against shifting of gas plants

DROSH: At a public gathering held in Drosh bazaar, local leaders of Awami National party (ANP) warned the PTI government not to shift liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plants from Chitral to Gilgit-Baltistan.

They said the plants were sanctioned for Chitral town, Drosh, Broz and other areas by the previous government and their shifting would not be tolerated.

The installation of LNG plants in Chitral was approved by the previous PML-N government after hectic efforts made by former MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin.

The plants were also to be installed in other areas of Chitral such as Garam Chashma, Booni and Mastuj.

However, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Dec 24, 2020, decided to shelve the LNG air mix projects in Chitral.

Now it has been learnt that the government is planning to shift the plants sanctioned for Chitral to Gilgit-Baltsitan.
