Residents want PEDO powerhouse fully functional
AWI: Residents of Awi have expressed their concerns over the inordinate delay in making a PEDO powerhouse fully functional in their village even after the passage of over three years.
The 150 KV powerhouse was established by Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) through community participation. The project was funded by the Pekhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO).
While inaugurating work on the project in August 2017, AKRSP officials had told the locals that the powerhouse would start functioning within months.
But even after more than three years, the powerhouse is not generating sufficient electricity to meet the needs of the village.
The local people demanded that the AKRSP authorities order an inquiry to ascertain the causes of delay and ensure proper functioning of the powerhouse.
