Three held in child marriage case

BOONI: Three people, including the bridegroom, have been arrested by the police in a child marriage case in Brok village of Laspur valley.

Wali Muhammad, the father of the girl, told police that his daughter is just 11 year-old and she was abducted by a 25-year-old man, identified as Shakoor, of Porth village, with the help of his relatives and married on Dec 19.

The nikah khwan is also involved in this illegal marriage, he said.

District Police Officer Zulfiqar Ahmed Tanoli said Shokor along with the nikah khwan and a witness have been arrested after registration of an FIR. The girl has also been recovered, he added. 

ChitralToday has learnt that the mother of the girl was involved in marrying off the child. After registration of the case, the girl has been sent back to her parents’ house ’till she completes her studies.’
