CHITRAL: Health Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah on Thursday visited Chitral to inspect government hospitals and health units in the wake of the rising cases of coronavirus.
The health secretary undertook the visit on the direction of the provincial task force on COVID-19.
At a meeting in Peshawar on Wednesday, the task force expressed concern over the rising positive cases in both the districts of Chitral and directed the health secretary to immediately visit Chitral and ensure all health units have proper arrangements to deal with the new cases.
The secretary visited the district headquarters hospital in Chitral lower and the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Booni.
He also visited the Booni Medical Centre and the COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre and expressed satisfaction over availability of testing kits and other facilities, said a statement issued by the district administration of Upper Chitral.
An official of the administration said in order to enhance the testing capacity another lab would be arranged after which result of a COVID-19 test could be made available in 24 hours.
