Woman seeks arrest of her two sons’ killers

CHITRAL: A woman has approached the inspector general of police (IGP) seeking action against officials of the Drosh police for not arresting killers of her two sons.

The woman alleged that the in-laws of her daughter were involved in the murder of her sons. She said the suspects also attacked her daughter and injured her after she returned to her parents’ home taking khula from her husband.

In an application addressed to the IGP, the woman, a resident of Drosh Gol, said three years ago her daughter married a man in the Brawal village of Dir. Soon after the marriage, the man started torturing her daughter due to which she approached court and obtained a separation decree and came back.

But her husband along with other people came to her house and threatened to kill all family members. Later, she alleged, the suspects killed her two sons – Ziaur Rehman and Aziziur Rehman – one after the other.

Their father, who was alive at that time, approached the SHO of Drosh but the police did not take any action to arrest the suspects.

When the police did not take action on the murder of her two sons, the woman added, the suspects made an attempt on the life of her daughter and critically injured her.

Later, local people launched a campaign on the social media demanding justice for the poor family. This forced the police to register an FIR against the suspects.

But even after registering the FIR, the police did not carry out a proper investigation to punish the suspects. She said her husband could not bear the murder of his two sons and subsequent police failure to provide justice to the family and passed away.

She said instead of arresting the suspects and providing justice to the family, the police were trying to pressure the applicant by using different tactics.

The woman called upon the IGP to order an inquiry against the SHO and provide justice to her by arresting the culprits behind the murder of her two sons and attack on her daughter.
