In Madak Lasht, 24 of 40 people test positive

CHITRAL: Twenty-four residents of Madak Lasht village have been diagnosed with Covid-19 during a random testing.

Swab samples were collected from 40 villagers before being sent to laboratory by the health department.

Regional head of Aga Khan Health Service Pakistan Mirajuddin confirming the new cases.

Madak Lasht village borders the Swat district.

He said most of the confirmed cases found in the random testing had a history of travelling to other parts of the country.

He said 20 of the cases were asymptomatic and they’re isolated in own homes. The others were shifted to the coronavirus emergency response centre in Booni.

 

meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Naveed Ahmed ordered a lockdown in the village. He said he had asked the assistant commissioner of Drosh to demarcate the village’s boundary.

However, the assistant commissioner said the local community had already restricted the entry of people to the houses of the confirmed cases. So he didn’t visit the village. He said police had been put on alert to check people’s movement.

 

A doctor at the DHQ hospital said people’s carelessness and non-compliance with SOPs had led to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Chitral.
