CHITRAL: Showing Shandur as a part of Gilgit-Baltistan by the federal government will serve Indian agenda of creating tension in areas to sabotage CPEC.
Representatives of political, religious parties and civil society on Friday expressed dismay and deep apprehension about the federal government’s recent document showing Shandur as a part of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Addressing a press conference here, they rejected the federal government’s announcement to establish a national park in Shandur Handarap and showing the area as a part of GB.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Shahzada Sikendarul Mulk, Abdul Wali Khan Advocate, Molana Jamshed Ahmed, Qazi Naseem, Muhamnad Hakim Advocate, M.I. Khan Sarhadi Adv, Waqas Ahmed Adv, Alam Zeb Adv, Zulfi Hunar Shah and Yousuf Shahzad.
Showing documentary evidence spanning over a century, they said Shandur even to the Langar area in the GB side was the property of Chitral and the Chitral Scouts posts and a rest house of Mehtar in the area were the proofs of it.
They said due to failure of the KP government in providing documents showing Shandur as an area of the province the federal government issued the misleading list showing Shandur as a part of GB.
They said till the resolution of the Kashmir issue, the region of GB would remain disputed and India wanted to include territories of KP in GB to make them disputed too and pitch the people of the two regions against each other.
This has also been done in the boundary areas of GB and KP in Kohistan.
This is because India wants to create tension and law and order situation in the whole area to create issues for the success of CPEC.
The representatives warned the government to correct the document and issue a notification accepting its blunder in order to remove the apprehensions of the people of Chitral.–Bashir Hussain Azad
