Coronavirus cases in Chitral rise to 19
CHITRAL: Coronavirus cases increased to 14 in Lower Chitral as two more patients tested positive on Wednesday, according to lab results available with ChitralToday.
The new patients are a 19-year-old boy from Chomarkhon who had come from Shikarpur in Sindh and was on quarantine in Chitral town.
The second is a 23-year-old man from Kari village near Chitral town. He had a travel history to Peshawar and was on quarantine in the town.
Moreover, an aged man from Terich in Upper Chitral also tested positive on Tuesday. The 58 years old had returned from Peshawar.
With this, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Upper Chitral increased to five.
The total number of positive cases in the two districts now stands at 19.
However, four of the positive patients on Tuesday had tested negative and their samples have again been sent to Peshawar.
If these patients again test negative for COVID-19, they will be discharged from isolation in hospitals.
There are over 1,600 people in 82 quarantine centres in Lower Chitral. representatives of political parties earlier in the day at a meeting demanded that the Lowari tunnel should be closed for 10 days till these people complete their quarantine period and go home.
