Screening of corona patient’s contacts demanded

BOONI: Screening of contacts of a corona patient who tested positive for coronavirus after returning from outside Chitral should be carried out, said people of Charun.

Talking to ChitralToday, they said a young man returned to Chitral from Islamabad a few days ago and was quarantined at the Govt Degree College for Girls in Booni. However, the next day he slipped out of the centre and reached home.

They said on way to Booni his samples had been taken and sent to a lab in Peshawar. After he spent 72 hours in his home in Charun, his lab report came positive. Upon this, police reached at his home and took him to the isolation ward of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Booni.

His family members were quarantined at home but the locals said the patient during his three-day stay at home had roamed around in the area and met a large number of people.

They demanded that besides screening of corona patient all his contacts should be traced and tested for the virus. They also criticized the district administration for its laxity regarding quarantining of people returning from different cities of Pakistan.

Most of the returnees are being allowed to go home while in many areas the administration has not set up any quarantine centre.

Moreover, three government buildings designated as quarantine centres in Mastuj town are yet to be used for the purpose.
