Chitrali man arrested by FIA cyber crime wing in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cyber crime wing in Peshawar arrested a Chitrali man on the charge of sharing “sexually explicit pictures” of a woman with her mother and sister and threatening them to make them viral on social media.

According the FIR (copy available with ChitralToday), the woman lodged a written complaint with the FIA cyber crime wing on March 30, 2020, and later personally appeared before the official concerned.

She alleged that the suspect shared her pictures through Whatsapp with her mother and sister on March 12, 2020, and threatened to share them on social media.

Based on the complaint, the SIM of the mobile phone from which the pictures had been shared was verified from the company concerned.

“It showed that the SIM of the mobile phone had been issued to Sanaul Haq, son of Abdul Ahad, a resident of Ouch PO Lonkoh, Chitral,” said the FIR.

During the probe, the suspect was traced to Al-Haram Town in Peshawar from where the Chitrali man was arrested and brought to the cyber crime police station in Peshawar.

During initial interrogation, the suspect confessed to his guilt and upon this a case under section 21, 24 of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) read with 506 of Pakistan Penal Code was registered against him.

The agency said it was further investigating the case.
