Isolation rooms at girls college in Booni opened

BOONI: Isolation rooms for coronavirus patients set up at Govt Girls Degree College were on Wednesday inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Shah Saud.

The 12 isolation rooms have been established by Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and are equipped with all needed facilities, according to a statement issued from the DC office.

The DC appreciated the AKDN for coming to the aid of the local administration to check the spread of the coronavirus.

So far, both the Lower and Upper Chitral districts are free from COVD-19 and all those returning from different cities of Pakistan are being kept at quarantine centres set up in educational institutions and hotels.

However, many people have dodged police and reached their homes promising to remain in self isolation but are reported to having rounds of different areas.

There is no proper screening of all those returning to Chitral, especially from areas where coronavirus has spread like Karachi and Peshawar.

Meanwhile, people are facing troubles after a ban on public transport across Chitral. Most of those returning to Chitral from different cities of Pakistan had to pay triple of the normal fare to private vehicles to reach Chitral and then in their villages.

Mashkoor Ali, a resident of Yarkhun, told ChitralToday that he and three other youth had to walk on foot for about four hours at different points from Chitral to Mastuj.
