Corona relief package demanded for Chitral
CHITRAL: Lawyers belonging to opposition patties on Wednesday termed the government’s Rs3,000 for daily wage earners in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic a cruel joke and demanded a corona relief package for Chitral.
They said each poor family should be paid Rs60,000 lump-sum amount at the rate of Rs20,000 per month.
Speaking at a press conference, advocates Muhammad Kausar, Abdul Wali Khan, Sajid Ullah and Khursheed Hussain Mughal said not only daily wagers but also people belonging to different professions such as private school teachers, lawyers, drivers etc have badly affected and unable to earn a living and needed support from the state.
They demanded that a corona relief package should be announced for Chitral and the government should waive electricity and other bills along with bank loans in the wake of the crisis.
They said the PTI government was trying to dole out pubic funds to its favourites through the so-called tiger force which should be resisted.
They also said that instead of issuing press statements the elected representatives should force the government to provide facilities in the hospitals of Chitral to deal with any emergency situation.
They also demanded a strict check on entry of people into Chitral from the Lowari tunnel Arandu and Shandur pass in order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus in the valley.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
