GB shuts schools after third coronavirus case confirmed

GILGIT: The government of Gilgit- Baltistan has announced to close all educational institutions till March 7 as a precautionary measures against the coronavirus.

The decision was taken after the third cironavirus patient was tested positive in Gilgit-Baltistan. The 45-year-old female patient was admitted in a government hospital in Gilgit, according to the Dawn newspaper.

Her samples were sent to the National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad which confirmed the virus.

Out of the five patients confirmed for the coronavirus so far in Pakistan, three are said to be from Gilgit-Baltistan.

Reports said samples of 12 more suspected patients have been sent to the NIH.

The hospitals in GB lack facilities to deal with such cases.

Meanwhile, the district administration of lower Chitral on Monday held a meeting and discussed measures to check the spread of the virus.
