DROSH: People of Jinjiret, Wardap, Hakimabad, Doom Shughur and Damek held a protest against the communication and works (C&W) department for not completing work on the Osiak bridge linking their area with other parts of Chitral.
The protesters, led by former village council nazim Imranul Mulk chanted slogans against the department and its officials. They also criticized chief minister’s adviser Wazirzada for not taking up the issue with the authorities concerned.
Work order for the bridge was issued in April 2019 but it could not be started yet. A suspension bridge at the site was damaged in the 2015 floods.
On the assurance of the assistant commissioner Drosh that work on the project would be started soon, the protesters dispersed.
However, they said that they would decide about their future strategy after a day. If there was no progress, the area people would launch a protest move and a hunger strike, they added.
