CHITRAL: Scores of activists belonging to All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf here on Tuesday expressed anguish over the special court’s sentencing of their leader to death in the high treason case in Islamabad.
Speaking at a press conference, Shahzada Amirul Hasnat, Mohsin Hayat, Abdul Qayuum, Ahmed Khan, Mir Rahim, Waqas Ahmed and others said the court decision had sent shock waves across Chitral.
Three of the activists offered themselves for hanging in place of Musharraf. They said they along with their sons were ready to sacrifice their lives for Musharraf.
The activists said Musharraf was the benefactor of the people of Chitral and the court decision had come as a shock for them.
They said the verdict was pronounced without following due process of law and the case had been initiated with a political agenda.
They added that how a person who remained the army chief and president of the country could be declared a traitor and punished with the death sentence.–Bashir Hussain Azad
